Oregon XC Series – Get Ready for 2027!
The 2027 Oregon XC Series returns for another exciting season of cross-country mountain bike racing, bringing together eight of Oregon's premier XC events into one season-long championship coordinated by Mudslinger Events.
The series is a collaborative effort between Scott's Cycle & Sports, promoter of Echo Red to Red; Capital Velo, producer of Silver Falls XC; Newport Parks & Recreation, producer of the Coast Hills Classic; and Mudslinger Events, producer of the remaining championship races. Together, these experienced organizers deliver a diverse collection of courses and race experiences across Oregon. Most events will feature professional timing by E8 Timing, providing consistent results and seamless scoring throughout the season.
Eight Events Across Oregon
The season begins with the iconic Echo Red to Red in Echo, Oregon, and continues through eight exciting races across the state, including:
- Three events in Central Oregon
- Two events in the Willamette Valley
- One event on the Oregon Coast
- Eastern Oregon's season opener at Echo
- The return of Bend Dirt Fest to the Oregon XC Series
From fast, flowing singletrack to technical climbs and classic XC terrain, every event offers a unique challenge while contributing to the overall series standings.
Championship Finals
The Oregon XC Series continues to recognize both experienced racers and those newer to XC competition by hosting separate championship finales.
Category 2 and Above Finals
Bend Dirt Fest returns to the Oregon XC Series and will host the Series Finals for Category 2, Category 1, Expert, Singlespeed, Elite, and Pro racers. Competitors will race for 101 championship points, making Bend Dirt Fest one of the most important events of the season.
Category 3 Finals
The Sisters Stampede will once again host the Category 3 Series Finals, providing the largest and most welcoming fields for newer racers while offering the same exciting championship atmosphere.
To keep the championship battle exciting throughout the season, one additional Wild Card Event will also award 101 championship points. The selected event will be announced during the season, ensuring every race remains meaningful in the championship chase.

Echo Red to Red

Echo, Oregon
March 13th, 2027
Echo Red to Red has cemented itself as the official season opener. It holds a special place for so many folks who have spent the off-season trying to better themselves. This is definitely a destination race with almost all participants traveling into town. We highly recommend doubling up and checking out the Real West Gravel on Sunday March 15th. This is year 17! And we’d be remiss if we didn’t thank Brian Cimmiyotti and friends who started this race all the way back in 2009. And none of this would be possible without Lloyd and Lois Peircy of Sno Road Winery.
Launch from town on pavement, shuffle a bit in a gravel sector, battle it out on the singletrack, then back to the gravel, and finally back to town with a pavement finish.

40th Anniversary
Celebrate 40 Years of Mudslinger!
April 2027 marks the 40th Anniversary of the legendary Mudslinger, one of the longest-running mountain bike races in the United States. Since 1987, thousands of riders have kicked off their season on these iconic Oregon trails, creating four decades of memories, mud, friendships, and unforgettable racing.
To celebrate this milestone, bring your vintage mountain bike, dust off your retro race kit, or simply come dressed in your favorite throwback cycling gear! Whether you're riding a fully restored steel hardtail, an early full-suspension bike, or just sporting neon socks and a classic race jersey, we'd love to celebrate the history of mountain biking with you.
Back to Our Roots
For the 40th Anniversary, we're returning to where it all began with an updated one-lap course inspired by the original Mudslinger format. Expect the classic mix of gravel roads, flowing singletrack, punchy climbs, and fast descents that made Mudslinger one of Oregon's signature spring races.
Designed to be fast, fun, and welcoming to riders of all abilities, the single-loop course keeps everyone together while delivering the authentic Mudslinger experience that generations of riders have come to love.
Whether you're racing for the podium, chasing Oregon XC Series points, or simply reliving the early days of mountain biking, this is the year to be part of history.
Better yet, make it a full weekend of adventure! The Mudslinger 25K Trail Run takes place the same day, creating a unique celebration of mountain biking and trail running for athletes, families, and spectators alike.

Sisters Stampede – Celebrating 18 Years
For 18 years, the Sisters Stampede has been one of Oregon's premier cross-country mountain bike races and a cornerstone of the Oregon XC Series. Held each Memorial Day Weekend in the mountain town of Sisters, Oregon, this destination event draws riders from across the Pacific Northwest to experience some of the state's finest singletrack.
Starting with wave starts from Blazin Saddles Bike Shop, racers roll into an outstanding trail network built and maintained by the Sisters Trail Alliance. Expect flowing singletrack through towering ponderosa pines, volcanic lava rock, open meadows, and spectacular views of the Three Sisters. The course rewards fitness and bike handling while featuring less sustained climbing than many Oregon XC Series races, making it one of the fastest and most enjoyable events on the calendar.
Known for its signature horseback lead-out of the Elite fields and welcoming atmosphere, the Sisters Stampede is a race every mountain biker should experience at least once.
