My name is Michael Ripley, and I grew up in Eugene, Oregon riding my bike in the 1970s for transportation and adventure.

After living in Corvallis and Bend, Oregon, in the '90s, Andi and I settled back in the Willamette Valley to raise our family of three girls, Myka, Rya, and Phebe. 


We love connecting people, organizing events for competitions, working on trails, and showcasing the unique places in Oregon and beyond for a good day outdoors. I love to attend cycling events in the area and regionally each year, focusing on MTB and Gravel first and always a scenic course to take on.

Cycling events designated as OBRA-sanctioned are conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association (OBRA). Participant eligibility, race categories, licensing requirements, and competition rules are governed by the applicable OBRA Racing Rules and are applied consistently to all participants.

Mudslinger Events LLC serves as the event organizer and administers the event in accordance with the applicable sanctioning-body rules. Questions regarding participant eligibility, licensing, category placement, or interpretation of OBRA rules should be directed to OBRA.

At Mudslinger Events, we recognize that your time, energy, and investment into each event are valuable. Our goal is to assist you in both pre-season and in-season planning, not only to help you stay healthier physically and mentally, but also to offer the opportunity to connect with your friends and community for a great day outdoors. Look for future Bike reg features that allow you to execute your credits and control your athletic pursuits.



Refund Policy


Participant-Initiated Cancellations

Mudslinger Events does not offer refunds when a participant chooses not to attend, regardless of the reason. Please review our credit, transfer, volunteer credit, and Registration Protection options below.


Registration Protection via Allianz (BikeReg)

During registration, you may have the option to purchase Registration Protection through Allianz, a third-party provider offered through BikeReg.

This optional coverage is designed to help protect your registration investment if you are unable to attend due to certain qualifying circumstances.

  • Registration Protection is a separate product offered by Allianz and is not administered or managed by Mudslinger Events.
  • Coverage, eligibility, and claims decisions are determined solely by Allianz in accordance with the terms and conditions of the policy.
  • We have had participants successfully receive reimbursement through this program when qualifying circumstances occurred.
  • Please note that COVID-19 is currently not a covered reason under this policy.

Credits and Transfers to Future Events


We understand that plans change. To make registering early with confidence, Mudslinger Events offers flexible credit options toward future events under the following guidelines.


Self-Service Credit

  • Participants may receive a 50% event credit by canceling their registration through BikeReg until 12:00 PM (noon) one week prior to the event.
  • Self-service credits are available directly through your BikeReg registration and do not require contacting Mudslinger Events.
  • No participant credits will be issued after 5:00 PM on the Monday of race week, as our team shifts its focus to final participant data, race timing, staffing, and event logistics.
  • Credits are valid for one year from the date of issue and may not be combined with other offers or promotions, with the exception of our Pregnancy & Postpartum Policy, which allows eligible credits to remain valid for up to two years.


Volunteer Credits

Volunteers earn event credits based on their volunteer assignment.

  • Volunteer credits are issued as a discount code prior to registration after you sign up for a designated shift at 20.00 per hr credit
  • To receive your code, please email Mudslinger Events before registering on any of our event pages
  • Volunteer credits are valid for one year and may be transferred to a friend or family member with a specific code sent to your inbox.

Transfer to Another Participant


-You may transfer your registration to another participant through BikeReg for a $10 transfer fee until 12:00 PM (noon) one week prior to the event.

  • Use the transfer feature within BikeReg to complete the process or gift your entry if you are unable to attend for any reason, including job changes, injury, illness, relocation, or scheduling conflicts.
  • The participant receiving your entry may update their race category, subject to event availability, and will receive a waiver via email if one has not already been completed online.
  • In some cases, category changes or special circumstances may require assistance from Mudslinger Events. Please contact us if additional help is needed. 


Event Cancellation Policy


Mudslinger Events purchases Event Cancellation Protection for each event at an additional cost of approximately $1,000–$2,000. This protection has successfully supported participant refunds following previous wildfire-related cancellations, including Ring of Fire (2022) and Sasquatch Duro (2024). If an event is canceled due to a qualifying covered circumstance, we will promptly initiate the claims process on behalf of our participants. Claims processing may take up to three to six months, and any reimbursement is administered through the Event Cancellation Protection program in accordance with its terms and conditions.


AQI


Mudslinger Events continuously monitors wildfire activity, AirNow, PurpleAir, weather forecasts, and on-course conditions. Air quality can vary significantly across our courses due to terrain, elevation, and changing weather patterns.

If AQI readings above approximately 150 are consistent across the event area and are not expected to improve through reasonable operational measures such as a delayed start, shortened course, or route modification, Mudslinger Events may cancel the event in the interest of participant safety.

In the event of a cancellation, participant refunds cannot be guaranteed. However, Mudslinger Events will pursue any available benefits through its Event Cancellation Protection program for qualifying circumstances.



Mail-In Registration

While rarely used, we are happy to accommodate those who prefer to register offline or who wish to keep their name off the public start list. Please email us to make arrangements.



In the Event of a Serious Family or Company Emergency

Mudslinger Events is a small, family-owned business. While we have contingency plans and an incredible team of staff, volunteers, and community partners, there may be rare circumstances involving the death, serious illness, or incapacitation of a key member of our family or leadership team that could significantly impact our ability to conduct an event.

Should such an unforeseen circumstance occur, we will make every reasonable effort to:

  • Conduct the event as planned;
  • Reschedule the event when practical; or
  • Offer participants a transfer or credit toward a future event when possible.

If none of these options can be accomplished safely or responsibly, we cannot guarantee that the event will proceed or that participant refunds will be available.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding, compassion, and support of our family, staff, volunteers, and the endurance community during such extraordinary circumstances.

Mudslinger Events Pregnancy & Postpartum Policy


At Mudslinger Events, we believe in supporting every athlete through all stages of life. Pregnancy and postpartum recovery require time, care, and flexibility, and we are proud to offer a policy that recognizes and respects these needs.

We understand that this life stage can change an athlete’s training and racing path. Healing and recovery time are essential for long-term health and well-being, and we want to support your return to the trails or Bike when you are ready.

Policy Options


If you are pregnant or within your postpartum recovery period and are registered for one of our events, you may choose one of the following options:

Deferral

You may defer your race entry for one to two years, depending on race distance and your individual circumstances.


Standard deferral fees will be waived under this policy.

Deferrals must be requested prior to race day.

Transfer to Another Distance or Event

If a shorter race or different event feels more manageable during your recovery, we are happy to accommodate a transfer when space allows.

How to Request a Pregnancy & Postpartum Adjustment

  • Please contact us directly at mike@mudslingerevents.com with your name and race details.
  • No medical documentation is required. We trust you to make the decision that is best for you.
  • Requests can be made at any point leading up to race day

Mudslinger Events LLC DBA Oregon Trail Runs ("we," "us," or "our") values your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data across all channels (email, text, web) in compliance with OCPA (Oregon), TCPA (Federal), and international GDPR/ePrivacy standards “where applicable,”.


1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following information:

  • Personal Information: Name, mailing address, email address, phone number, emergency contact information, date of birth (when required), and other information necessary to administer registrations, events, volunteer activities, and customer support.
  • Registration Information: Event registrations, race categories, waiver acknowledgments, volunteer information, event history, timing data, and race results.
  • Payment Information: Payments are processed by our registration providers and payment processors. Mudslinger Events does not store complete credit or debit card information.
  • Sensitive Personal Data: When required by applicable law, we obtain your consent before collecting or processing sensitive personal data, including information relating to health, racial or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other categories protected under applicable privacy laws.
  • Text Message Communications (TCPA): By providing your mobile phone number and affirmatively opting in, you consent to receive automated informational and marketing text messages from Mudslinger Events. Consent is not a condition of purchasing or participating in an event. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP.


2. How We Use Your Information


We may use your personal information to:

  • Process event registrations, waivers, payments, participant communications, and volunteer activities.
  • Provide customer support and respond to questions or requests.
  • Administer event timing, results, rankings, awards, safety procedures, and emergency communications.
  • Verify participant eligibility, licensing, or race-category requirements for sanctioned athletic events when applicable.
  • Send operational emails and text messages relating to events for which you have registered or volunteered.
  • Send newsletters, promotional emails, and marketing text messages when you have provided the consent required by applicable law.
  • Improve our events, website, communications, and participant experience.
  • Prevent fraud, protect participant safety, enforce event rules, and address legal, insurance, or risk management matters.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, insurance requirements, permit conditions, and sanctioning-body rules.


3. Mudslinger Events does not sell your personal information.


We may share your information with the following categories of third parties as necessary to operate our events and comply with legal obligations:


  • Registration & Payment Providers: Registration platforms and payment processors (such as BikeReg) that process event registrations, payments, waivers, and participant information.
  • Service Providers: Companies that assist with race timing, photography, communications, website hosting, email delivery, text messaging, customer support, website analytics, and other event-related services.
  • Sanctioning Bodies: Organizations such as OBRA, USA Cycling, or other governing bodies when required for licensing, insurance, official results, rankings, or event administration.
  • Sponsors: We do not sell or share participant contact information with sponsors for their independent marketing purposes without your consent.
  • Legal Authorities: Government agencies, law enforcement, insurers, or other parties when required by law, subpoena, court order, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Mudslinger Events, participants, volunteers, or the public.




 4. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the following rights:


  • Access: Request access to the personal information we maintain about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to applicable legal, insurance, business, and record-retention requirements.
  • Right to Know: Request information about the categories of personal information we collect, how we use it, and the categories of third parties with whom it has been shared or disclosed, where required by applicable law.
  • Opt Out of Marketing: Unsubscribe from marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link or stop receiving text messages by replying STOP.
  • Universal Opt-Out Signals: Where applicable, our website honors recognized browser-based privacy preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control (GPC), for targeted advertising and other applicable tracking technologies.




5. Children’s Privacy


Mudslinger Events welcomes youth participation in age-appropriate events.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children except as necessary to administer event registration, participation, timing, awards, communications, and safety. Where required by applicable law, registrations for participants under the applicable age must be completed or authorized by a parent or legal guardian.


  • We do not knowingly engage in targeted advertising or profiling of children where prohibited by applicable law.


6. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for event operations, results verification, or as required by law.

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to administer our events, maintain historical race results, provide customer support, comply with legal, insurance, tax, and accounting requirements, resolve disputes, or satisfy applicable record-retention obligations.

Data Minimization: We collect and retain only the personal information reasonably necessary to operate our events, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, and comply with applicable laws.



  • Legal and Business Records: Registration records, waivers, participant communications, consent records, accident and incident reports, insurance documentation, and other business records may be retained for periods required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the legal interests of Mudslinger Events.


7. Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to improve website functionality, analyze website traffic, and enhance your experience.


  • Where required by applicable law, we obtain your consent before using non-essential cookies or similar tracking technologies.
