One big day in Cottage Grove Oregon just 20 minutes south of Eugene for the Oregon Gran Fondo.
Two all road cycling routes for the 117 or 71 miler and two mixed surface routes on the Adventure Route 68 Miler and Mini-Gravel 30.
Gran Fondo is Italian and translates approximately to “Big Ride.” Gran Fondo rides have their origin in Italy and France, where the general public was invited to ride a single stage of one of the professional grand tours, the Tour de France, and the Giro D'Italia after the pro race went through. Everyone, of any age and ability, was invited to participate. Ex-professionals and elite racers lined up side by side with 80-year-old farmers toting baguettes in the baskets of their 1920’s era commuter bikes. While some choose to ride fast and test their endurance, by definition, a Gran Fondo is not a race, but rather a mass start event designed to draw the community together and give everyone a chance to enjoy the fun of riding a bike on the same course as the pros.
We hope you will join us and Co-Motion Cycles for a fully supported and well catered timed cycling event with friends the first weekend in June.
In 2023 the Oregon Gran Fondo is asking for your help to not only gain awareness for Shift Community Cycles, but to give back and support Shift.
Shift Community Cycles is your local nonprofit community bike shop dedicated to removing barriers and empowering more individuals and communities to join the world of bicycling. Our dedicated team of volunteers and community partners help us connect people with bicycles.

Safety
No TT Bars or Recumbants please! Please use a blinking taillight for your own safety.
Traffic and Cars, loose corners, Stop Signs, Dogs, Elk and other things we can or cant control. Rules of the road at all times from the start to the finish!
We have a great track record at the Oregon Gran Fondo with one only a few spills that required EMS. Your are our #1 concern and with that being said we have over 20 Ham Radio Operators from the South Lane Ametuer Radio Operators group on course to attempt to break through the hills and ravines. We have first aid on hand at the finish and on course within an hr in most cases we can get to you with dispatch from Cottage Grove or other counties that this event travels through. With little to no cell service only 5 miles west of Cottage Grove you are in a very remote area of Western Oregon.
Please remember that the roads may have an official or emergency vehicle on the course and please pull over to allow traffic to safely pass. A Taillight is highly recommended for basic safety. The roads after 20 miles are lightly traveled and have a few potholes and other hazards to avoid.
The usual way a crash goes is:
Riders are coming into the aid station and telling race personal that someone is messed up and not moving or holding an arm or knee. The next rider says the person is sitting up, followed by the next person says he/she is on their bike, then riders say nothing as this person is OK and comes to the aid station to get a ride out or continues.
Now that's the normal situation, in the case of an accident that appears to be dangerous, please get the riders plate # to report to official race personnel the on course and approximate distance to.
Please let us know if you need to seek medical attention beyond a scrape at the finish area and if you do DNF (Did not Finish) please report your plate number to the scoring officials and do not cross the finish line
Helmets required anytime you are on your bike at this event. Please download the route to your GPS, or smart phone
This is an OBRA sanctioned event
